Frohe Weihnachten!

That's Merry Christmas in German to all of you from all of us.
We spent Christmas Eve Day in Garmisch-Partenkirchen which was the site of the 1936 Winter Olympics. The kids got me on the steepest and scariest cable car I have ever seen to go to Zugspitze, the tallest mountain in the German Alps at 2962 meters. We first had to take a train from Munich to Garmisch, then another cog train (the Zugspitzbahn) from Garmisch to Eibsee and walk over to the cable car. The border between Germany and Austria runs right across this mountain and there used to be a border crossing station, but that has been dismantled since the institution of the European Union. We did however travel over to the Austrian side.
